Dropbox says my files are up to date. No, they aren't.

The City of Toronto, because of software, says that our home was vacant at some point in the previous year. No it wasn't. The software says that we owe $8000. No we don't, just like (apparently) thousands of other people who filled out the same forms and whose data was lost.

Structures in our societies, life, and work are structural, like a tree. When not maintained well, they start to rot. Software bugs and problems are eating away our time and our productivity, like termites in a tree. When that starts happening, the rotting things fall over.
