Is there actual peer reviewed scientific evidence to support this? As we know in the leather world the true science is often deliberately obscured around emotional language like “kill zones” which always make me suspicious

Hidden behind a paywall, but a school friend sent me the paper copy. Fascinating read. I remember my father sailing to the US every year on this business when I was young.
