Questioning standard practices is vital for improvement. Preoperative testing in low-risk surgeries often lacks clinical benefits yet remains common in Michigan hospitals. Eliminating these unnecessary tests can significantly enhance the value of surgical care. #PreopTestingWeek

There is significant variation in preop testing rates across Michigan hospitals - averages range from 10%-97%. That level of variation suggests hospitals should revisit their institutional standards to ensure alignment with current testing recommendations. #PreopTestingWeek
