Successful completion of the training workshop on "Protein extraction of environmental samples" instructed by Maria Papadatou & MoVie β Microbial Oceanography Vienna Group π¦ π. MoVie group happily hosted Benjamin Pontiller from GEOMAR_en and members of the UniversitΓ€t Wien Bio-Oceanography & Marine Biology Unit.

Two MOVie group members, Marilena and Chie, are joining the @biocarbon_nerc project onboard the RRS Discovery hosted by the British National Oceanography Centre Natural Environment Research Council. The research cruise DY180 started today from Southampton and heads towards the Central Iceland Basin.

Marilena Heitger and Chie from MoVie β Microbial Oceanography Vienna Group π¦ π deploy their in situ microbial incubator (ISMI) up to 1000 m and measure microbial activity with a fluorescence dye at in situ hydrological pressure.

We welcome our new lab manager, Theres Koch. She completed a MSc in Ecology and Ecosystem at the UniversitΓ€t Wien, where she focused on cnidarians and corals using techniques like video microscopy, live particle tracking, and machine-learning algorithms.
