I love my job, but I’m tired. A 15 hour working day with only a 30 minute break is not safe and not sustainable. Inhaling dinner at 2130 and bed for 2200 is not resting and not good for your health.

I am absolutely loving being back at uni to study for my masters. Having dedicated time to learn and explore topics that I am passionate about is so great! Looking forward to my next modules now.

Day 1 of the social determinants of health module of my public health masters. It has a huge focus on improving maternal and neonatal health, an important reminder of just how essential this public health knowledge is within my role as a midwife.

Looking forward to starting my final MSc essay for this year exploring midwives’ mental well-being and the impact on maternity care, in relation to public health. So many great articles/research recently published to support this!

Excited to share the first instalment of the public health series The Student Midwife Journal. This series will explore different aspects of the midwife’s role in public health and support students to reflect on how to promote public health in their own practice.

And the start of another very important series exploring the experiences of preceptorship and internship midwives! Another great issue addressing many significant topics and providing essential learning and reflection for student midwives.

Just submitted my last masters assignment before my dissertation deadline in August. A challenging 18 months of studying whilst working. Feeling a little proud and also relieved that I am nearly there, now for the final hurdle!

Dissertation has been submitted, Masters in Public Health complete (pending marking). A surreal feeling that two years of hard work is over!
