Hard not to love Trent Hidlay (Trent Hoagie Hidlay). The former NC State star finally gets over the hump and wins the 92 KG spot at Final X, sweeping Josh Barr. On3 | #On3Wrestling | The Wolfpacker

I got to interview PJ Duke when he was just an 8th grader. The answer he gave me back then on missing out on the opportunity to win 6 state titles is why Iโ€™m not surprised, AT EIGHTEEN YEARS OLD!!! He made his first senior world team.

North Carolina is moving to 8 divisions for wrestling. How is having 8 state champs good for sports? I donโ€™t want to hate on the state as a whole, there is some good kids but if anyone wonders why their state goes 0-2 at Fargo every year itโ€™s not rocket science. NCHSAA Sports

Johnni DiJulius Not our choice sadly. We at THE NC Mat are trying our best to grow the sport in NC. Weโ€™ve got some phenomenal clubs growing in our state and progress is coming. Sadly the NCHSAA made a decision to make more money across the board instead of whatโ€™s best for development

Mike Macchiavello (@mike_macch) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Yes big problem. Has to do with other sports. We started NC United for a lot of reasons. Developmental opportunities across all age groups, training, access to more resources, increased exposure to high level wrestling, grass roots development, etc. this wonโ€™t slow us down.

This is perfectly communicated and the majority of athletes struggle with it especially when they graduate from college athletics. I definitely did right away. If more professional athletes spoke about their failures and struggles while working their way to the top, it would

My take that states need less divisions is NOT a participation trophy take. It comes down to- does a better product (more competitive) encourage more kids to wrestle, or more schools qualifying (more divisions). I believe better comp sells the sport to both fans and new kids.
