I recently visited several gas station to see how easy it is to buy kratom. I found that most kratom products were displayed right at the checkout. I found kratom products just 100 yards from a middle school. At one location, I was able to purchase kratom without even ID.

As an officer of the court, I’m disappointed in my own profession. The ruling stepped way outside a judge’s lane and ignored the Utah Constitution’s clear separation of powers.

Yesterday in committee, we heard directly from Utah physicians, the state medical examiner, and other public health experts about the growing dangers of kratom. In the last five years, Utah has seen nearly 160 deaths involving kratom. It’s time to protect Utahns.
