vivek shyam Sati existed. But colonial era accounts often *exaggerated* the numbers. Sati also varied by region in the 18th-19th centuries: highest occurrence in Bengal (100s yearly), lower in Madras Presidency (with no sati in Kerala), lowest in Bombay Presidency. Also varied by caste.

Let's be very clear. The hooliganism targeting Kunal Kamra shows the total collapse of law and order in Maharashtra. Who would have thought that goons would be calling for a "Babri-like situation" over a centuries-old grave or breaking a comedy venue in Mumbai in 2025? Shame.
