One of New Guinea's pretty ant species is Tetramorium fulviceps. Quite common across the whole island, lives in dead wood on ground and leaf litter. There seem to be several undescribed species related to it.

Stunning misinterpretation by Clarivate/@WebOfScience in their decision to suppress citation counts for all papers in Zootaxa updates. This damages the entire field of zoological taxonomy, and in particular researchers from developing countries.

This week, #UFBugs PhD student, Jason Williams, suffered the sudden death of his wife, Shani. If you can help at this heartbroken time, this GoFundMe campaign is raising funds for a funeral and memorial befitting her. gf.me/u/y36ax3.

In terms of #myrmecological books that are important identification resources and regional guides to #ants what am I missing from the list below? (bearing in mind this doesn't include taxonomic papers with keys - that would be a loooonngg thread)

Ending the war means thinking more about the Ukrainian people and their future, and and worrying less about problems that Putin does not in fact have. 17/17

Our planet is positively teeming with “little things that run the world”-invertebrates. Yet, it has been a challenge to see the big picture of how invertebrate diversity is distributed around the globe. Happy to share that, finally, we have a detailed view for one group: ants.
