Fantastic piece in Sciences on the limitations of LLMs by my Munk Debate teammate Melanie Mitchell. Quote: "The assumptions that we make for humans—that they cannot memorize vast collections of text related to test questions, and when they answer questions correctly, they will be

This is huge: Llama-v2 is open source, with a license that authorizes commercial use! This is going to change the landscape of the LLM market. Llama-v2 is available on Microsoft Azure and will be available on AWS, Hugging Face and other providers Pretrained and fine-tuned

Great to see the release of Llama II, open-source LLMs are making good progress! Still a lot of room to improve OS models positioning on the efficiency/performance front — so that they eventually catch up with proprietary solutions. An interesting challenge 😇

Testing out HeyGen translation on French and German. I don’t speak either language so let me know if it sounds natural if you do. I hope if you pay you can turn off the color correction. It didn’t work on my phone so I had to upload on my pc. app.heygen.com/guest/template…

This audio of Elon Musk is 100% fake. I generated it with AI in <5min. We’re entering an era where what you see and what you hear aren’t always real. Society needs to begin putting its guard up on AI-generated disinformation.

The latest paper from Salesforce AI, et al. discovers a new prompt called Chain of Density (CoD) that produces more dense and human-preferable summaries compared to vanilla GPT-4. I gave it a try for a few articles and it's really solid. Pasted it here if you want to try it 👇

ChatGPT “proves” the cube root of 27 is irrational, then computes it to be 3, then admits it was wrong about its irrationality, and then finally, when asked to find its error, claims it was right all along. Undisputed king of BS.

My prediction: in 2024, most companies will realize that smaller, cheaper, more specialized models make more sense for 99% of AI use-cases. The current market & usage is fooled by companies sponsoring the cost of training and running big models (especially with cloud incentives).
