Great article James Wood with important recognition that in Australia we also have the luxury of relying on learnings from Covid waves in other countries not just prospective modeling! theconversation.com/what-can-we-ex…

The absence of big mutational jumps in dominant variants suggests SARS-CoV2, the virus that causes COVID, may now be entering a period of slower, more continuous evolution. This is what we see for seasonal influenza. theconversation.com/what-can-we-ex…

“There needs to be a nimbleness to how we approach PPE supply and storage for future pandemic preparedness” - Linda Dickey (Director, APIC). This will not be our last pandemic. Our next steps count, and will definitely count in the future, when it matters most. #ACIPC22

Because humans spend most of their time indoors and because most transmission occurs indoors, we investigate the hypothesis that indoor climate—particularly indoor relative humidity (RH)—may be the more relevant modulator of outbreaks. royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/10.1098/rs…

From recent OECD report. Having more restrictions didn’t correlate well with less excess deaths. In some cases the opposite. Note Sweden compared to Australia. These are 2020 to 2021 figures, before Australia had much spread of covid (2022 was spread here). So I am surprised.
