I get off work at 5pm. I ordered a pizza to be ready for pick up at 5:10pm I'm done with work 20 minutes early. 🤦‍♀️😂

There was quite the gathering back by the field this evening. Lots of good conversation. People coming and going. Two guys actually working. 😂 The rest of us goofing off. 😁 I got there while it was light and left after dark.

I see daylight starting thru bedroom window. Today will be the last totally dry day for a while. Going to butcher the last of the meat chickens first thing. I'd really like to get the yard mowed. There's a couple other things I'd like to do too. Going to have to pick and choose.

I need to go get ice for chicken butchering. Usually I just go to a convenience store 3.5 miles away. But then I remembered 2 miles away is the Amish store and they sell ice. And it's DONUT SATURDAY!

Chicken butchering and clean up and really every little thing involved took longer than I envisioned. It always does. But I've already removed one of my "want to do this today" things off the list. But chicken butchering is done! That is the big one. Lunch next. Then moving on.

Lawn mowing was on my afternoon agenda but my husband hopped on the mower and got the entire yard done. 👏👏 Which then freed me up to get all the butchering equipment packed up for winter. And scrub chicken wateters. And do laying chicken chores. And take the dogs for a walk.😁

Ibuprofen for everyone in my house tonight. Us old people worked hard today. 😂😂😂

It's the annual covered bridge festival weekend. Most bridges are hosted by local civic groups selling food and/or crafts. My husband and I took a walk to a bridge to get a hot dog and chips for lunch and then homemade brownies for dessert. Otis got to come too. 😁

I'm really thinking that the forecast was for a quarter to half inch of rain last night. #raingauge2024 says otherwise. I saw a graphic that we might get 1.5" to 2" more by Wednesday. Unlike some, we don't need the rain here. At least the beans are off.

More from the leftover chicken butchering parts #trailcam. These wild turkeys really wanted some of the action but would not mingle with the turkey vultures. They hung around on the outskirts for over an hour though. Volume up to hear gobbling. 😂😂

Retired laying hens make the best soup. And I love cream soups so when I make chicken noodle soup from scratch, I make it creamy. 😋😁 #homecooking
