Awesome tool from Mo Lotfollahi lab to define tissue niches in spatial data based on inferred cell communication + spatial proximity. Glad we could corrupt you from sc data to spatial :)

What if LLMs could “read” & “write” biology? 🤔 Introducing C2S‑Scale—a Yale University + Google AI Google DeepMind collab: we scaled LLMs (up to 27 B!) to analyze & generate single‑cell insights by turning transcriptomes into text 🧬➡️📝 🔗 Blog: research.google/blog/teaching-… 🔗 Preprint:

Postdoc candidates with expertise in AI for bio should apply for this new Stanford SAIL fellowship. We encourage applicants who would like to work with multiple SAIL faculty (we are part of SAIL as well)

We are at the end of wrapping up a cool paper with 6 authors, decided to do whole day paper hackathon at my place to finish it, let’s see how it goes

There has been a lot of discussion about the novelty of the discovery, but I think AI and the technology is so amazing that many exciting things will be discovered soon

How well do single-cell foundation models perform w/o finetuning? Our work Genome Biology shows that in zero-shot settings, scGPT and Geneformer often underperform traditional methods, raising questions about their utility for biological discovery. 📰 genomebiology.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.11…

📢 Introducing Biomni - the first general-purpose biomedical AI agent. Biomni is built on the first unified environment for biomedical agent with 150 tools, 59 databases, and 106 software packages and a generalist agent design with retrieval, planning, and code as action. This

Great blog post. All ML folks working in the bio space should seriously read this. This issue is seriously plaguing the field. Lots of bombastic AI4bio papers getting tons of attention (pun intended) that end up being entirely hollow under the surface. This is BAD for the field.
