Warm up to throw, do not throw to warm up. Never go to the field and just start throwing the ball around without priming your body first. At the bare minimum, perform dynamic movements with the upper 1/2 (rotations, CARs, ext/int alternates, etc).

Don’t neglect arm care. As a whole, the baseball community understands the impact of volume & intensity way better than the QB community does. High volume + high intensity without adequate rest periods = high risk for injuries. This is especially prevalent with youth QBs or

Majority of pull phase issues are due to strength or mobility issues. You must have usable range of motion and strength through shoulder abduction, horizontal abduction, and internal rotation to get an optimal pull.

Interesting throwing arm velocity graph! This QB gets a high amount of velocity and a great spin rate without optimal mobility with layback and poor shoulder abduction. You can see the extreme velocity peaks they have during the acceleration phase with shoulder horizontal

Proper T spine extension & layback are essential for deep ball. If you cannot maximally layback then you are substantially limited with your overall distance/power with deep ball.

Take a look at these trunk & leg graphs for this QB. Magnitude graphs: He does a fantastic job getting his rotation started right as the front foot is striking the ground. Hip-shoulder separation is created early in the throw and peaks at MER. Velocity graphs: pelvis rotation

Thank you to Coach Jim Craft for the opportunity to play football at the next level. I had a great time talking about what Pacific University has to offer athletically and academically.
