The famous cotton that once defined the history and picturesque of Freetown is no more. For some time now the Cotton tree has been giving scare indications (fire & other threats) to 🇸🇱 but the storm of 24 May 2023 was too much to bear for the once gigantic and iconic cotton tree.

Happy to have handed over a consignment of Law books donated by International Law Book Facility (ILBF) to the Registrar of the Sierra Leone Law School. Grateful to Katrina Crossley & Jodie-Lee of International Law Book Facility (ILBF) & Richard Honey KC of the UK 🇸🇱 for coordinating and facilitating the process.

Today, I formally handed over to the Attorney General and Minister of Justice of the Republic of 🇸🇱 and team 19 boxes with a total of 163 assorted Law Books donated by International Law Book Facility (ILBF) to the Ministry of Justice Library. With elation and gratitude, Cheveners from 🇸🇱 joined Lisa Chesney to welcome successful Cheveners and bid farewell to 2023 cohorts on 3rd August 2023. Joint by Commonwealth scholars as well, we were entertained by diverse inspirational presentations from awardees. Hopeful 4 🇸🇱 !

August 18 always brings the melancholy & gloominess of loosing compatriots-fellow students that dared to defend our nascent Democracy in 1997. We remember your sacrifice & pray that successive generations appreciate&value it. 🇸🇱 should never opt for such path again. Insha Allah!

On January 6 each year, our generation that witnessed the carnage, maiming, gross human rights violations and wanton destruction of valuable lives and properties in the city of Freetown brings traumatic memories that we pray never come again. May peace continue to prevail in 🇸🇱.

Today, Keir Starmer became Prime Minister of 🇬🇧&🇸🇱 passed the Criminal Procedure Act of 2024. No better gift for him from 🇸🇱 than this coincidence as he contributed to this long and arduous process by coming personally.What a day to remember. Lisa Chesney Richard Honey KC
