When it comes to energy, Scotland hosts and produces far in excess of its needs, it trundles its way south. While we're in fuel poverty. Oh for the days of Scottish Hydro in Scotland. Don't ever sell off our the water.

The increase in older population is also a contributor. Incoming older, just pre-retirement none Gaelic speakers buying up the houses. We can't say it's market forces or be polite anymore, if we value our language and culture we must be bold now.

This is good news. Previously, no recognition of how local, really local, with little or no transport, processing, or miles of infrastructure, whereas wood and hand cut peat is often renewable, even at snails pace, unlike aforesaid. Plus the ash is good for growing food. Circular

The Highlands and Islands comprise 9% of Scotland’s population but produces 47% of its renewable electricity. We pay a higher rate than the south of Scotland per kWh used. The Highlands and Islands need independence now.
