This F2 was really proud of the writing she did on Friday ☺️ She wrote a story, and illustrated it, during her ‘playing to learn’ time. It’s amazing to see children using their John Walker, Sounds-Write phonics knowledge, and applying it in their writing for pleasure!

I agree wholeheartedly with this. Talking to children, storytelling, reading to them, encouraging them to talk with you, the batting back and fro of ideas and thoughts, is all absolutely key not just to 'rich vocabulary' but to the whole of language & intellectual development.

I am loath to criticise my former BBC colleagues and I’m aware they weren’t in on the story. But the idea of a TV presenter losing his job being the top story on the website as opposed to Parliament being kept in the dark for two years about the Afghan data leak is risible.
