OCR B History teachers, how do you make ‘Big business’ in MoA more memorable? Currently I give them a bit of background info, we look at it through Andrew Carnegie and then at 3 examples working out positive and negative impact. But this doesn’t seem to ‘stick’ with pupils…

Yr 10 did their first medicine key people icon drills today 2 minutes per person. 1 minute knowledge recall followed by 1 minute knowledge organiser/book check. Students then flip it over and test each other by forming verbal answers. They smashed it!

Sad to see The Crooked House at Himley is no more. Tara to a quirky Black Country icon, famous for seemingly defying gravity, as seen in this clip from 1975 macearchive.org/films/atv-toda…

One aim this year is to vary our homework offering at KS4. We want to encourage engagement with scholarship via the ‘Extended Extracts’. Students work through the text, build on definitions/respond to set questions. We’re aiming for one extract per paper topic. #historyteacher

Here are 6 take aways from Ofsted report into history teaching. It wasn't the easiest of reads! Hopefully it will help you and save you time that we can't ever get back ... bit.ly/467kcFy #historyteacher

Why was there rapid progress in the development of penicillin? A little bit of guided reading. Getting the pupils to look at the factors that contributed to the development of penicillin. The pupils identified the factors and then colour coded them #historyteacher

Absolutely stunned that we're going to be taxed for selling on our children's used clothing, they have grown out of, at a loss, simply to try and make ends meet and buy them clothing that fits. The absolute state of the UK under the Conservatives. Utter disgrace.

Poor school attendance is the biggest problem facing Britain today, in terms of its long-run impact. It's good that everyone's talking about it this morning, but I'm not convinced we've got the right solutions. (A bit of a 🧵)
