Mrs. Pruitt had students purposefully justify their answers on paper after selecting an answer on their revising assignment. Awesome small-group action over simple sentences & fragments using cards and an expo marker to label! My 6th grade teacher ❤️ is happy🥰 Laura Martin, M.Ed.

Mrs. Smith-Williams & Ms. Le got students up & moving with an informational gallery walk last week! 🖼️ Students had to look at a variety of informational texts and figure out what subgenre they fall in. Then, students justified their answers. 😎 Smith Sabercats

Mrs. Le & Mr. Peters are a 🌟DYNAMIC🌟 duo! Students used sentence strips with their groups to decide which one was to the extraneous detail. Great way to get our students talking about revision before tackling STAAR questions over the skill! Smith Sabercats

Ms. Ayala worked with a small-group this past week to tackle controlling idea & supporting details in her 6th grade basic class. How awesome is it to have students create their own mini anchor chart! Also, ❤️ the POP focus phrases being up on the board! Smith Sabercats

Mrs. Pruitt, Mrs. Neumann, & Ms. Martin had small-group lessons and strategy groups ready to go based on their data from a recent fiction test! I love that 6th grade ELAR is so intentional with their SG planning 😎 Smith Sabercats

7th grade ELAR deserves to be celebrated for being #1 in the district for masters on the DPM!! LET’S GO!!! 💪🏼 They deserve ALL the love and celebrations for working to meet all students’ needs!!! Smith Sabercats

How did the 3 Prisoners Escape Alcatraz? Our 6th grade students Smith Sabercats will figure it out! Julie Nguyen

To my work family at Smith Sabercats, thank you for making me feel so special on my birthday! 🎉 Words can’t express how much I appreciate you all! 💕 Gini Howell Jennifer Baek Heide Modisette Ericka GOOD Lauren Jozwiak Sarah-Jane Spyrka

Our Smith Sabercats 6th grade ELAR team is constantly thinking about how to engage students! To end our argumentative unit, these lawyers are going to trial to either defend or prosecute SpongeBob for a crime! Thank you Mrs. Pruitt for letting me sit in your courtroom! 👩⚖️

I wish I got pictures of Ms. Le in action! Her students recognize her as one of the kindest teachers with a ❤️ for ALL students. 7th graders read the poem “Nothing Gold Can Stay” to pair with “The Outsiders.” Read how she made it so relatable for students! Smith Sabercats

This 8th grade team is a dynamic duo! We’re trying something new by tackling the POETTS strategy while reading “The Raven” and answering open ended STAAR questions this unit. I’m not surprised that these two teachers were nominated for TOTY together at Smith Sabercats 🎉🥳

Trash or treasure! This is a flow chart that could help 6th graders break down how internal/external conflicts ➡️ how characters respond ➡️ outcome/consequences ➡️ theme! Smith Sabercats docs.google.com/presentation/d…

6th graders Smith Sabercats are analyzing all the craft moves before drafting their own graphic novel story! They’re weaving the read aloud as mentor sentences for POP as well! Mrs. Pruitt Kristin Vaughn Laura Martin, M.Ed. Kathryn Longoria “A First Time for Everything” by Dan Santat ✈️
