Every time I watch Digging for Britain I briefly but very strongly consider going back to archaeology and leaving teaching behind me. Then I remember that working outside in the winter is the absolute worst and I'll happily take my heated classroom.

As a teacher that is dyslexic and wasn't diagnosed until 18, I am also sometimes defensive, we are doing our best. But the government needs to help us do more, it's not enough.

Teaching at this time of year is absolutely nuts. I can’t concentrate on anything for longer than 5 minutes because all the adrenaline that I’ve run on all year has finally run out and I’m an empty husk.

Had a dream last night that I had to retake my GCSE history and I couldn't even answer the first question. I think I might have spent too long last night marking GCSE questions 😬

I'm teaching OCR A Level RE next year, give me a follow fellow RE folks...I'm scared but excited (the latter largely because I just brought a tonne of books on ethics and oh boy I love books).

I honestly find the lack of consistency each year on what is expected on each question mind blowing.

Very unpopular opinion but I think in a healthier world our schools would teach the so-called “useless things”: Latin, old poetry, classic cinema, how to read and enjoy challenging novels. Studying these things won’t make you a better person. But they will give you a better life.
