The plain fabric of this 1953 #Dior evening ensemble serves a purpose here, namely to sit quietly in the background whilst the sleeves do all of the showing off. The rich colour and unadorned cloth emphasise the origami-esque structure. Strike a pose and look aloof Museum at FIT






This could have been an early #VivienneWestwood design, reminiscent of her early collections, but it is in fact a chiffon layered gown dating to the late #1920s. It is longer in line and beginning to fit more closely to the body as the times changed once more Museum at FIT
