New horizons beckon. I finish at Brookes on Thursday and on Friday I take up a 13-month fixed-term Research Residency at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, which will allow me a much-appreciated period in which to write, publish and consolidate future research plans.

We are very sad to say good-bye to Dr Barbara Eichner and Prof Alexandra Wilson today, who are made to leave the University after they were part of the music team for 15 and 19 years respectively.

Reading this very interesting book on Oxford's musical life. I was surprised and pleased to see that Susan Wollenberg's chapter about Faculty of Music also makes reference to the "strong research culture" in music, particularly opera and pop, Oxford Brookes University (see next tweet). 1/

External parties were evidently very aware of the strong research culture we had OBERTO. It is a great pity that Brookes showed no appetite for holding on to this, even when constructive means of saving staff were proposed. Music at Brookes
