#OnThisDay in 1277 Edward I gifted 6 oak trees for timber to the Whitefriars of #KingsLynn. This beautiful stone and brick archway is the only part of that friary complex to survive.

Below is a sketch by Henry Baines of the Margaret of Christiana, wrecked at Hunstanton on 23 April 1886 while loaded with ice. Baines sketched the ship from many perspectives in May of that year. This particular drawing formed the basis of his oil painting.

Much older than they look - two houses overlooking the former Cattle Market in #KingsLynn. English bond brickwork beneath the pebbledash & mansard roof. What date I wonder? Could they possibly be late C17?

Daniel Defoe's 'Robinson Crusoe' was published #OnThisDay in 1719. He visited #KingsLynn 3 years later where he might have met the town's own Cruso family. St Nicholas' Chapel, contains their memorials including one to Alice, wife of Robinson Cruso!

The fabulous #marketcross that once stood on Tuesday Market Place #KingsLynn. Sadly lost to time, although you can see what it would’ve been like by popping in to see Fred Hall’s carefully crafted #models on display here at the #warehouse
