Grandview senior Catherine Wakeland set school records a the Jefferson track and field meet Tuesday when she ran the 100-meter dash in 12.58 seconds and the 200 in 26.35. Wakeland won medals in the 100 and 300 hurdles at the Class 2 state championships last May.

Festus junior Carson Driemeier set the school record in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 8:59.27 at the Arcadia Invitational on April 12 in Arcadia, Calif. The former record of 9:04 was held by Drew White, who set it at Arcadia in 2012.

Kaitlyn Fischer, a 2013 Herculaneum High graduate, won the Maybelline New York City women's half-marathon Sunday with a time of 1 hour, 18 minutes, 9 seconds. That's a pace of 5:58 per mile. During her prep cross country and track and field career, Fischer won 7 state titles.

The JCAA track and field championships conclude tonight in Hillsboro. Festus leads both the boys and girls team standings after the first day.

Jefferson's Matthew Waltman pulls ahead in the Class 2 state championship in the 400-meter in a time of 49.55 seconds Saturday in Jefferson City. Later, Waltman won the 200 in 21.86 seconds. Those 20 points helped the Blue Jays finished third.

Carly Roussin of Crystal City just won a state title in long jump with PR of 5.34 meters on her final jump.

The Grandview girls track and field team tied with Fayette with 37 points to finish third at the Class 2 state championships in Jefferson City on Saturday. It's the first time the Eagles won a team trophy.
