Now the data from the firsr service run has been archived, it's now time to start looking at some seismograms from earthquakes that have occurred all around the world and been recorded on seismometers in Sabah!

This mornings ML 3.0 Newdigate earthquake is now on our website: earthquakes.bgs.ac.uk/earthquakes/re…. The very dense local monitoring network we have in the area meant we were able to resolve two very small (<0.0) earthquakes that followed it.

First day in the field and all seems to be working well! We picked up data from 3 seismometers including the one installed on Mt Kinabalu, where data is live streamed to the park HQ

Another day servicing seismometers in Sabah - great to meet lots of friendly and interested kids at the schools we went to today. Less good was having to dig up a… instagram.com/nboss_project/…

After some issues with the stations yesterday it was nice to go back to having sites that were all working nicely today - smiles all round from the team that went to Danum Valley!

It's known geophysists like modelling, so we thought we'd try some new techniques on Mengalum Island yesterday after servicing the seismometer...

New PhD student paper! Well done to Mohammed Bello: "Structure of the crust and upper mantle beneath Bass Strait, southeast Australia, from teleseismic body wave tomography" in PEPI - sciencedirect.com/science/articl… #geophysics #tomography #phdlife

Then Luis Arturo Cámara showed the results of a study to look at the mantle transition zone beneath North Borneo using data from the nBOSS (look out for these results at the BSM conference in Edinburgh!)

Midway through nBOSS seismometer recovery fieldwork & 23 stations recovered. Rainy season has lived up to its name so far. Teams currently in SE Sabah & heading to the Maliau Basin tomorrow

The nBOSS recovery fieldwork reaches the Maliau Basin & a 6-hr hike through the rainforest to collect the instrument. Lots of leeches!

Part of the team reached the peak of Mt. Kinabalu this morning (via our seismometer) and witnessed a spectacular sunrise.

Seismometers loaded on the van ready to make their way back to the UK from the nBOSS in Sabah - wonder which exciting places they'll end up next!
