Delightful list of NYT reporters' top "huh" and "aha" inspirations for stories. And proud to have written "one sentence in a working paper" that apparently kicked off Emily Badger's outstanding work on cities' inflexibility & postpandemic challenges. nytimes.com/interactive/20…

Also very, very excited to keep digging in on the topic with Michigan Law School students in a mini-seminar on "Cities After COVID" this coming semester!

One of the many brilliant, creative ideas from my Local Gov students was replacing our current system of public participation for land use with, essentially, juries. So I'm fascinated to see Cambridge trying this out -- so curious if it will work. cambridgeday.com/2024/01/28/in-…

Reupping this to say the two most important things about a new paper: THANK YOU to everyone who made this paper immeasurably better. And comments and feedback *extremely* welcome. I'd especially love thoughts from employment/civil rights folks!

Great job opportunity for recent law grads interested in housing/land use! (It says PhD required, but JDs are welcome). I loved my time in a similar role at the Furman Center and Terner Center is outstanding too. aprecruit.berkeley.edu/JPF04357

Housing vouchers can be transformative, but I will never get over how indefensible this administrative system is. After 15 years... you get six days... just to apply for a waitlist. Ultimately, reform here requires moving HCVs towards being an entitlement.
