You deserve better than the last government's deal. It wasn’t working for anyone.    Here’s 10 ways today’s deal with the EU will benefit Britain ⬇️

Apart from the NFFO (fishing lobby) I can't see a single business/group that does not welcome the UK-EU reset. BCC, CBI, IoD, UK Steel, UK Hospitality, British Meat Processors Association, Morrisons, BAE Systems, Salmon Scotland(!), Port of Dover.

Today, Labour is announcing over half a million more children will receive free school meals. This will put nearly £500 more in parents’ pockets and lift 100,000 children out of poverty.

Delighted that up to 2,900 children in Chelsea and Fulham will now be getting free school meals. Alongside free breakfast clubs, cheaper uniform costs and government-funded childcare, we're working to put money in families’ pockets and give children the best start in life.

In 30 years of working in the homelessness sector, I have never met a single person who made a conscious decision to sleep rough. Good news that the Vagrancy Act is to be scrapped. gov.uk/government/new…

Today, we’ve announced £39bn of investment in a new 10-year affordable homes programme alongside a 10-year rent settlement. Boosting investment and providing certainty to deliver on our promise of the biggest increase in social and affordable housebuilding in a generation.

Delighted by new govt ÂŁ for Chelsea & Fulham - digitising records to create space in four GP practices & upgrading three schools' buildings to boost learning. Spending Review has also given billions more to cut NHS waiting lists plus more ÂŁ per pupil. We're putting things right.

In my maiden speech as a new MP, I pledged to work so food banks weren't needed. Trussell says mental and physical ill health from hunger and hardship is costing an extra ÂŁ1.6bn. Today, I asked health ministers how they were tackling this in Chelsea & Fulham and our country.

At St. Paul’s we marked the 30th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide—remembering the 8,000 Bosniak men and boys murdered because of their ethnicity and religion. As global tensions continue to escalate, we must remember we have more in common than that which divides us.

Sadly this is nothing new. Hammersmith & Fulham Tories voted AGAINST funding: - Law Enforcement officers to patrol our streets - A gangs unit to keep kids out of organised crime - New measures to prevent violence against women & girls - Britain’s most comprehensive CCTV network

We have today laid regulations to bring Awaab’s Law and electrical safety standards into effect for the social rented sector from this Autumn. This Labour government is driving a transformational and lasting change in the safety and quality of social housing.

🔥On steaming hot days like today it's worth recalling that the UK govt's heat pump scheme is actively pushing people away from investing in green heating systems that also do air conditioning. It's one of the most baffling blind spots in policy... From a recent column👇

But the bigger problem now is the new Building Safety Regulator. This is trying to sign off every single building, one by one. Which it doesn't have the expertise or resources to do. So many, many projects are getting stuck - or not put forward at all. x.com/rcolvile/statu…

Heat pumps that work as AC units: - are heavily discouraged by building regs - don't benefit from the ÂŁ7k heat pump grant scheme - and will give you a lower EPC rating (making your mortgage more expensive).

UPDATE: In a major u-turn, Keir Starmer has now scrapped the entire PIP section of the welfare bill. The Timms review will report back in autumn 2026 and, as it is being conducted with disability groups, is highly unlikely to opt for four-point eligibility criteria. This
