With six left, Harvard get a miracle of its own as Owen Gaffney rifles one past McCool to tie the score at 12-12. When it needed it most, the Crimson delivered.

We're heading to overtime in this rollercoaster of a game. Gaffney bailed Harvard out with a equalizer with six seconds left in the fourth quarter, ending a six-goal SU run.

For what it’s worth, Syracuse has not won an overtime game under Gary Gait. Don’t know how many exactly but I think it’s about five.

Owen Hiltz ends it for Syracuse. It is heading to the second round, where it'll face No. 3 Princeton Saturday. Just insane scenes.

Hardly a soul has left the Dome. Harvard fans are stunned into silence, while SU supporters are exaltant, cavorting in their seats as the players caper on the turf. Just ineffable stuff.

Syracuse's John Mullen won 24-of-28 faceoffs, including 11 straight in the fourth quarter and overtime, to help the Orange take down Harvard in the NCAA Tournament First Round. More observations from SU's 13-12 win, from Nicholas Alumkal. dailyorange.com/2025/05/syracu…

“To do it on a field that I pretty much grew up on is crazy.” In his homeland of Long Island, Joey Spallina exploded for eight points to lead Syracuse to a Final Four berth, delivering his signature moment, from Cooper Andrews. dailyorange.com/2025/05/syracu…

“These guys believe in each other and believe they can win any game.” In a back-and-forth affair, Syracuse took down No. 3 seed Princeton 19-18, sealing its first Final Four since 2013 and putting it two wins away from a national title, from Zak Wolf. dailyorange.com/2025/05/syracu…

“He’s just a workhorse, man.” Maryland head coach John Tillman developed as a player and coach in central New York. Now, he looks to stay undefeated with the No. 2 seed Terrapins against No. 6 seed Syracuse in the Final Four, from Nicholas Alumkal. dailyorange.com/2025/05/mens-l…

This was quite a doozy. I’m not sure it portended today’s lopsided outcome, but it certainly resembled SU being metaphorically stuck in a blender in the form of Maryland and having no way out. That’s what happened today for SU and what happened to Cooper and I in February.

Tillman meets his alma mater, Cornell, in the national championship for the second time in his coaching career. We’ll see if Maryland can down the Big Red again, like it did in 2022.

Cooper Andrews (@cooper_andrews) 's Twitter Profile Photo

College lacrosse runs through central New York once again. Cornell beats Maryland for its fourth-ever NCAA Championship, and first since 1977. A storybook ending on a storybook season.

Check out Zak's tremendous story on Cornell's national championship — and CJ Kirst cementing his legacy as one of the all-time greats. Reminds me of the halcyon days of SI stories perfectly summing up a season or title. Seriously. It's that good.

More exceptional national championship coverage from Daily Orange Sports. Cooper does a magisterial job capturing, contextualizing and conjuring what Cornell’s national title means. Give it a read. You won’t regret it.
