Getting clean energy procurement right is a key requirement for making energy-intensive carbon removal approaches (like DAC) credible. Today, Frontier has published a set of buyer principles for responsible clean energy procurement (link in following tweet).

Was just looking for a photo from a recent trip to Paris, and it appears I seem to have spent most of the trip photographing beautiful ceilings? Anyways, we should really bring those back..

Is Romanticism making a comeback in SF? Lately I’ve been wondering if SF is in the early stages of a ‘Romantic Revival’ of sorts. Curious to hear from folks who spend time in the bay if this feels directionally correct: nanransohoff.substack.com/p/is-romantici…

Elon Musk 1 hour of Earth's sunlight contains as much energy as humanity uses in a year. 2 days is more than we've used since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution. No other energy source can even compare.

New piece with Rafael Dib applying prioritisation frameworks to science funding. How should a grantmaker aiming at health impact pick areas to fund, when science is so hard to predict? We argue you can get pretty far, because today's spending is weird: blog.jacobtrefethen.com/vaccines/

New podcast* from two of the greats—Saloni and Jacob Trefethen—just dropped! *at nearly 5 hours, it's really more of an audiobook than a podcast (luckily for us)

Planetary just delivered the world's first verified carbon removal tons via ocean alkalinity enhancement (OAE). We think OAE is hugely promising. Part of what's made it tricky is the measurement/verification piece. Planetary's delivery represents some big strides forward here:

This is a great step forward. Ocean alkalinity enhancement is one of the more promising and less invested in areas of carbon removal.
