Kariba weed scientifically known as salvinia molesta is an invasive water weed which has encroached most water bodies in Uganda but there is a biological pest control way of putting the cyrtobagous beatle in the weed and feeds on it till it eventually sinks.

The KOPIA Annual review meeting was held today at Sheraton Hotel Kampala to review the progress of it's projects ( Citrus , Rice, Potato) projects and an MoU for a 1 year extension of the Rice project was signed by the DG NARO and the Director KOPIA Uganda.

The Insect Museum and Herbarium at the National Agricultural Research Laboratories Kawanda collects, reserves, identifies, trains, stores different insect species in Uganda. It opened in 1909 at the Entebbe Botanical gardens and later was transferred to Kawanda in 1939.(beetles)
