An unusual #GIPath finding from a GEJ biopsy - ciliated cell heterotopia (/metaplasia?). Per Elizabeth Montgomery, MD/@Voltaggiol’s ‘Biopsy interpretation of the GI mucosa’ - likely incidental. Good enough for me! Anyone else seen this before? Any other thoughts?

Stat biopsy on a friable sigmoid mass in a middle aged female (no imaging available). Diagnosis: Moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma Next case, right? Usually I ignore squamous metaplasia in dysplasia, but that little voice told me to do a bit more here. Stain is PAX8 🤯

f you are not onto it, endometriosis can be a huge fooler and present as a mass lesion. Worse, the stroma can stain with DOG1! Ouch. #UMiamiPath
