This was SUCH a fun night with @RebeccaCarey_’s ARC lab and Natalia Vélez (natvelali.bsky.social @ 🦋)’s CoLab at Princeton University!!

First, Judy Fan on cognitive tools for making the invisible visible. This was a wonderfully meta talk to sketch - it’s fun to think of these notes as a combination of visual depiction and explanation :)

Judy Fan Next, Deanna Needell on working towards transparency, fairness, and efficiency in machine learning. This talk was packed with cool applications - nice to see collaborations like this between mathematicians and domain experts

Judy Fan Day 2! 🏖 Jacob Foster on methods for discovering patterns and structure in cultural traces - thought this was a very interesting pitch for the enduring scientific value of “old school” methods. My iPad died before I could capture some very cool work on the structure of dreams!

Judy Fan Notes from Daniel McNamee’s talk, on structured lawfulness in planning - such a cool approach to thinking about complex planning in relatively simpler models

Judy Fan Notes from Dora Biro’s (virtual!) talk on the opportunities and challenges that arise when animals transition from solving problems individually to as a group. This one was really inspiring - lots of parallels to the problems of collaboration! 💡
