Postdoctoral Fellow in Microbial Genetics or Genomics, UTHealth Houston Souvik Bhattacharyya Join us in our multidisciplinary research #genetics, #genomics, #molbio, #evolution, #systems, #bigdata, & #mathematicalmodeling jobrxiv.org/job/university… #antibiot... jobrxiv.org/job/university…

Our work @NCIResearchCtr on how interspecies surfactants facilitate emergent surface spreading in #Paeruginosa by Delayna Warrell and @zanyzarr is now out in JBacteriology Eds ASM ! journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128/jb…

Souvik Bhattacharyya PNASNews HarsheyLab Cool. We found motility was required for IS5 mutations that activate flhDC )(nature.com/articles/ismej…).

Finally, the preprint on my postdoc work from the past 3 years! With mentorship from Paul Turner Lab and Emonet Lab, I developed a microscopic technique to measure attachment of viruses #phages to bacterial cells Yale Phage Center Yale QBio . biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

This story started 5y ago with my lab. Spearheaded by fearless 1st authors theopi and Olivia Leland. Theopi is now a PhD student at Brown University. Olivia is a physics PhD student at Brandeis University, a self-taught biologist, and made us love soft matter. A (very long) thread (1/24)

Happy MicroBOOology 2! MID continued the Halloween spirit with a lab door decorating contest. The theme was "creepy crawlies". Congrats to the Lee lab for winning with the effects of a deadly parasitic infection. Jayhun Lee

🚨New preprint from our lab! We map the RNA interactions in E. coli infected by lambda, revealing an RNA-driven regulatory layer in phage-host dynamics. We find a phage-encoded sRNA hijacking host replication machinery, impacting the phage cycle.#microbiology #phages Regulating with RNAs in Bacteria and Archaea
