We who believe in environment sustainability don't stop believing because the answer we yearn for hasn't yet come. We keep believing. In fact, National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) believes even more that Ugandans shall soon embrace the best environment management practices these students are sharing.

The successful Save River Rwizi Run which took place Sunday July 30, with proceeds going towards cleaning and restoring the river, should invigorate our resolve to protect not only Rwizi but also other water bodies within our localities. Let us save all water sources for life.

Environment management in Uganda is a decentralised function. But all of us have a responsibility to protect and take care of this one earth that feeds and houses us. NEMA has a mandate but individuals should have a fast behavioural change. Disbanding NEMA is no solution.

Good for National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) to work with men and women in uniform to manage our environment. They need to know about the EIA process, management of lakeshores, river banks, biotechnology and biosafety advancements, wetland degradation, and much more. These are helpful stakeholders...go on

Monday, August 14, National Environment Management Authority (NEMA)'s south western region team, together with Rwampara District Local Government, undertook an assessment and mapping exercise of the wetlands in the district. Two people were arrested for burning the vegetation and draining a wetland for agriculture.

On Fri 25th Aug, 2023, Mbale Regional Team arrested a foreign resident (Indian national) for commencing construction in the wetland along Mbale-Tororo road.. He was released on bond, pending further investigations.

We shall continue to do many of these. The law will take care of the perpetrators. Let us protect our environment jealously.

This is a very powerful message. African negotiators in the area of plastic pollution, and myself, have just had an engagement at Sheraton Kampala Hotel. Many meaningful ideas have been shared, and Africa will definitely speak with one voice on plastics going forward.

PROSECUTE ALL OFFENDERS, NEMA ED SAYS The ED has warned that all illegal sand miners will be prosecuted to save the environment. Guiding the regional team after their inspection of sand mining areas in Busia, Barirega Akankwasah, PhD urged staff to work more with police to apprehend offenders.

President Obama's words should be take with all the seriousness they deserve. As a country, we must double our efforts in taking actions that address climate change.
