Spring is arriving! 🌸The flowers are blooming and the sun is shining again, making us almost as happy as this bumblebee diving for pollen amongst the spring crocuses🐝 What's your favourite sign of spring?

Today, the #SpeciesSpotlight is on Exmoor ponies🐴 Not only are they picture perfect in the sun, but they are great conservation grazers, helping maintain biodiversity and keep scrub at bay on #ChalkGrassland habitats 🌳 Here they are working hard in Folkington, Sussex:

Today the #SpeciesSpotlight is on the Wood Anemone.🌸 This dainty white flower blooms from March to May and creating beautiful carpets on woodland floors. They can be an indicator of ancient woodland - a rare habitat that takes more than 400 years to establish 🌳

This ancient yew tree at Kingley Vale has stood for an impressive 750 years - a long time to us, but it’s just a brief moment in our planet’s 4.5-billion-year history🌍 On #EarthDay we’re reminded of our duty to protect the natural world, for present and future generations.

Wildfire risk is high. ⚠️ Warm, dry, and windy weather means fires can start easily and spread fast. 📞 Call 999 if you see a fire - never try to tackle it yourself. 📷 The Wildlife Trust for Beds, Cambs & Northants

May is here but #Blossom season isn’t over yet 🌸 Hawthorn and apple trees are still blooming! Best found in orchards and hedgerows - habitats vital for birds and pollinators. So head outside and take it all in (just don’t forget your hay fever medication!) 🤧
