We are working on affordable housing developments in 10 community areas in Chicago on the north, west, and south sides of the city. We have great design peers doing the same in two dozen others, but we need all hands on deck to address the need in every single corner of the city.

The school closings were unjust, but we're helping breathe new life into the former Woods Elementary as affordable housing, & a health center. blockclubchicago.org/2023/06/21/eng… A rare example of one of the closed schools becoming something for everyone in the community to enjoy again.

A first step in clearing the way for construction, & the Transit Supportive Development plan that SolomonCordwellBuenz authored with our assistance will guide how some of parts of these parcels are redeveloped once the extension is complete.

Same issues have been straining the Black communities in Chicago, combined with systemic inequities whose symptoms manifest in violence & health disparities. Stabilizing existing affordable housing, & building new housing supply near transit that gets people to jobs is critical.
