Yesterday was a very special graduation day at Royal Holloway - celebrating our amazing Royal Holloway Law and Criminology students and gathering with brilliant colleagues.

It has been great supporting Nacro outdoor learnings HAF program today, working with young people in Brooklands and beyond. Spent the morning frisbee golfing and then on a bike ride through Wythenshawe park. Then in the afternoon welcoming a visiting politician from Norway #haf

What do you notice is missing?

We should be very careful in using the term “terror related”. Sadly there have always been horrendously violent evil acts by individuals some mentally disturbed. it is understandable we look for an ideological motivation but often there is just not one - it’s hatred

I have been hugely impressed by the quality, dedication and enthusiasm of Unlocked Graduates working in some of our most challenging prisons. Really sorry to hear the scheme, in future will not go ahead, at a time when the recruitment of high-quality officers is so important.

Unlocked Graduates We are sorry that this scheme is ending, we have liked it for a whole range of reasons. What it has demonstrated, is that with careful, resourced selection, enhanced training and an increased total reward package people want to join the prison service.
