Just this! “For the last decade GPs have been starved of funding…yet currently treat >200,000 patients every week” Improving access needs increased capacity but that needs resourced. You don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone. #saveGP

GPs receive on average just less than 50p per patient per day to provide a free at the point of access service in NI and every single patient calling their practice for an appointment can feel that squeeze on our budget! The time for action to #saveGP is now!

Without a properly resourced and politically supported GP service, reset is a pipedream. GPs are the beating heart of community healthcare, trusted advisors, educators, tireless advocates for patients England-GPs-9.5% of health budget NI-5.4% of health budget See the problem?

Hands up who is in awe of the brilliant lobbying by Feargal Sharkey for proper stewardship of our water sources against the excesses and failures of the water industry? 🙋🏻‍♂️ Thank you! Read Robert Macfarlane “Is a river alive” if you want to know why it is so important

The conundrum of safe working limits vs relentless demand; escalating workload vs fewer GPs. Working “safely” means about 15 patients per GP per day not being seen! The answer = Invest in more GPs + look after the ones we’ve got so we can look after patients when they need us
