Another historic reform passed this legislative session! Texas Public Policy Foundation Right On Crime

An incredible day for the safety of Texans. Texas Public Policy Foundation Right On Crime began working on moving Texas towards a risk-based bail system 10 years ago, and today we are one step closer to putting a stop to high risk, violent offenders getting out on bond to re-victimize our communities.

In the San Antonio Express-News today, I discuss big public safety wins so far & remaining priorities this legislative session, including the TDCJ sunset bill in the Texas House of Representatives and several bills awaiting action by Senate under Office of the Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick & Chairman Senator Pete Flores District 24! expressnews.com/opinion/commen…

With unanimous support from both the Texas House and Senate, SB 1278 is on its way to the desk of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott . Thank you Sen. Senator Tan Parker and Rep. Senfronia Thompson for creating an affirmative defense for human trafficking victims #txlege Nikki Pressley

The Texas Legislature has overwhelmingly passed SJR 5 and SB9 —putting public safety ahead of politics. Thanks to strong bipartisan leadership, SJR5 will go to Texas voters in November and SB 9 goes to the Governor’s desk. Thank you to Chairman Smithee, Chairwoman Joan Huffman,

Survivors deserve every chance to rebuild and heal. I’ve worked on this mission for nearly two decades and look forward to partnering with Greg Abbott and my colleagues to deliver the justice and compassion they deserve. thetexan.news/issues/crimina…

The Lone Star State has a chance to lead the way in supporting victims of sex and labor trafficking. We look forward to working alongside Senator Tan Parker, Greg Abbott, and our friends Right On Crime to pass this common sense policy. Read more: statesman.com/story/opinion/…

Excellent article by German Lopez for the The New York Times about a big, important problem in the US: Most crimes aren’t solved. If you murder someone, it’s essentially a coin flip whether you’ll be arrested for it. If you steal a car, you’ll almost certainly get away with it.

Right On Crime Greg Abbott Brett L. Tolman Nikki Pressley Yes, supporting victims of trafficking (and not treating the victims as criminals) is common sense. 👍🏼
