Attention non-EU academics! Please help! I'm trying to get a schengen visa to attend a conference in Portugal in July but can't seem to secure a single appointment at ANY EU consulate. Any advice on how you've made your trips happen?

I voted today! As a South African it always fills me with emotion as I stand in line (for hours) waiting to cast my ballot. The time went by quickly though as I was surrounded by patriotic Saffas, while eating a boerewors roll, and listening to amapiano from a stranger's speaker.
