I play disc golf maybe twice a year and always for charity. This Saturday in Yarmouth money is being raised for caregivers of Veterans. Pine Tree Bee is an official sponsor of making the world a better place.

Standing in the middle of a swarm is my new favorite thing to do.

Mite checks complete at the first Apiary. Sting count 3-15.

Swarm season is in over drive here. These huge cells have been fed only royal jelly and will hatch as a Queen bee. First duty is to kill all other queens. Then mate, killing each drone she mates with.

Wall to wall brood. This means it's half past time to swarm. We stuck a couple of these, a bunch of resources and a ton of nurse bees into a hive with a couple queen cells and wished them luck.

High Five! Bee's can taste with their feet. This helps them know if a flower is good as soon as she lands.

Most of Maine supports our To Protect and Serve to work with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

It's humid and the Bees are collectively fanning the hive to both control the temp and dry the nectar into delicious honey.

We were just inspected by the State. We were told we have the best brood pattern around and all our hives are 100% mite free. We made a split right in the middle of the inspection things looked so good.

Oh the places this car will go.

Guess we are catching a swarm this morning.

Drone City!! Drones (males) have one purpose in life. It's not protection, it's not hunting, and it's not opening the pickle jar. They are born, hang out eating till maturity then off to mate where they die from the process. What a life.
