I'm looking forward to this new role at Scholars Strategy Network (bsky: @scholars.org) supporting chapters around the country in their work to connect scholarship, policymaking, and civic leadership!

via @NYTOpinion JDVance got to where he is by being poor and a first gen college student— both important attributes in our DEI values. Natasha Warikoo nytimes.com/2024/07/21/opi…

JD Vance's career is built on his "hillbilly" & Yale backgrounds. While race is a key diversity factor for universities, it's not the only one, says Natasha Warikoo: "We want a variety of perspectives & lived experiences." From Lydia Polgreen, The New York Times: nytimes.com/2024/07/21/opi…

After all these years, still love to see my books at the #ASA2024 books exhibit! In great company, too. Eve L. Ewing used to go by wikipedia brown @mrafalow Blake Silver UChicagoPress

I love serving on book award committees! Great excuse to read lots of new books + celebrate some of them! Co-winners of soc of culture award are Anna Schwenck’s Flexible Authoritarianism and Hajar Yazdiha, Ph.D. The People’s King. Everyone should read them!!

Loved celebrating the career of @prudencelcarter. congrats on the lifetime achievement award in Race, Class, and Gender! Thank you to Dr_BrownStew for organizing the nomination! @prudencelcarter can’t wait to see where another lifetime of scholarship takes you!

This award for public sociology means so much to me. I spent last year trying to shape the public conversation on Race, Asian Americans, affirmative action, and meritocracy. As scholars we have to find ways to make a difference in the world. ASA Sociology Tufts University Scholars Strategy Network (bsky: @scholars.org)

Flattered by this endorsement, esp coming from an expert on housing! Ultimately, in the book’s conclusion I talk about housing as the best strategy to address the issues in places like Woodcrest. UChicagoPress
