Devastating. IMO, the former RAM is as heritage a building as there is in the city (other than the Leg and Hotel Mac). It’s a gem that deserves a 2nd + 3rd life. What the area doesn’t need is more green space (it’s on the edge of the massive river valley park system)

We're going to look back at this in 30 years and wonder the stupidity for tearing down the former Royal Alberta Museum building, one of the true Architectural #yegheritage jewels in #yeg.

Well deserved! Harold Steves did so much to establish the ALR in BC. A crucial tool to both protect critical farmland + develop a better Metro Van region. Legendary.

#topoli The NEW issue of @spacing is on newsstands & better bookstores. Our theme is Noise in the city - the good, the bad and the clunky. 1/n

Well done Vivian… the former RAM in Edmonton is a critically important part of Alberta’s built heritage. And a damn fine building. Let’s not toss it to the scrap heap!

Whenever I return to Edmonton from any city, I’m always amazed how loud this city is at night. It’s a giant racetrack. It’s unhealthy.

Single egress comes to BC! This will open up a lot of design choices and development opportunities. Can we get this in Alberta?

Moving beyond the ‘granny cottage’. Coach houses and lane houses can now be “family sized” in Vancouver and Burnaby. Other cities: This is the simplest way to provide ground oriented family size housing >> just fix the FSR and size cap in your zoning.

Curious about city/community planning as a career? As a means to better places? For understanding how your community functions? Consider the SFU City Program intro to planning for non-planners (I share all the deep insider insight!)

Joshua Evans at U of A says Griesbach is “an important test case” in how tenants’ rights are respected & shows gaps in Alberta. Demovictions & renovictions will increase in Edmonton as old rentals age, & they’re more likely with the new zoning bylaw. #yeg #yegcc #ableg #cdnpoli

What is so broken in our communities that so many choose chaos and anger? These are dark times and Canada isn’t far behind. How can we move forward from these huge steps back?
