UK centrist politicians are in doom loop. 1. They have no real policies. 2. They have to rely on their personality for votes. 3. They have to be nice to everyone for votes. 4. So in turn they dont have strong policies. Votes for extreme populists with policies goes up.

Not sure about trendy 'mission' rhetoric. All it really means is focus/target/goals. 'Mission' doesn't create a progressive focus. History tells us that progressive policy grows when it is acknowledged that systemic problems need systemic solutions and not a singular focus.
