How do you continue to love your country if you're horrified by and terrified of and furious with the majority of the people in it? Asking for a friend

Today I woke up to an email from a mom asking me to take down the beautiful HuffPost essay she wrote about her trans kid because she's now terrified about their safety It breaks my heart but I don't blame her This is our reality now And this is why we have to keep fighting

I don’t pretend to know how to fix any of this, but I do have some advice for the next few days: Whenever you’re feeling awful, turn on any episode of “The Golden Girls” and let yourself get lost for 5 or 10 or 22 minutes I promise it helps

Today someone told me that my privilege is what keeps me from "humanizing" the people who voted for Trump and it's causing me to unfairly "demonize" them instead No It's way simpler than that If you act like a demon, you get treated like a demon

On the bright side… Sunday Scaries feel way less scary now that every second of every day is scary

As we queers find ourselves in more and more danger simply for existing, it's time to start outing folks who are voting against us, working against us, and using their power to make our lives hell If you're fucking us over AND fucking us, you should be dragged out of your closet

At the end of the day If someone really loves you, they don’t vote for a regime they know is going to hurt you If they do, that’s not love And there’s no way to spin it to make it love
