Flooding is among the most common and costly natural disasters… and many homeowners don’t realize that flood damage isn’t covered by most homeowners insurance policies. To be protected, you need a separate flood insurance policy --- and most take 30 days to go into effect.

Most standard homeowners insurance policies do not cover flood damage. Flood damage is covered by flood insurance; a separate policy, on top of your standard homeowners insurance. If you are a homeowner and don’t already have flood insurance, now is the time to consider it.
