Enjoyable WeBS count today at Outstrays/Welwick, over 3000 Shelduck, 250 Ringed Plovers (most I've seen in ages) and 700 Redshanks my highlights. I hear lots of RP at Spurn recently, so be good to learn the final figure from this bit of Humber. Any SU your side mike pilsworth ?

Such a great atmosphere birding here, but its no birding picnic! Birds are often distant and hard to get onto, but when you do, the northerly view means the light is usually great. The many poms have been superb, but the 2 South Polars stole the show, albeit briefly.

Cracking day at Estaca, despite the less promising winds. Seems that Biscay has plenty of birds that want to be in the Atlantic... Highlight was a stunning South Polar in tandem with a Bonxie giving a great comparison of size and jizz, then a distant Barolo finished the day.

That's myself and Roger Riddington finished at Estaca de Bares, coming home with some great memories, new friends and plenty of ideas from the Swedish and Spanish rarities committees. Plus 7 South Polar Skuas, Barolo, Wilson's, 3 Feas type and great studies of Poms, Balearics etc

Nice evening stroll here in Easington, a juv Sabines Gull flew south and was then gratefully received by the Spurn watchers, and c95 Little Egrets came into roost. Both fabulous sights in their own way 🙂

I've uploaded an "atmospheric" video to Youtube of one of the South Polar Skuas past Estaca de Bares last week. I wish i'd got some footage of a different bird that flew in tandem with a Bonxie earlier, differences in size & jizz were clear. youtu.be/-cEbTxiOyLA

Cracking looking bird, and we have had couple of Booted Wblrs and a pallidirostris G G Shrike recently, but these are not getting easier!! If anything, they may get harder... Any thoughts, Magnus Hellström ?

Well gripped by this! Most excitingly, it increases knowledge of the most underwatched part of Britain. This is probably not the most 'extreme vagrant' that's likely a regular visitor to UK waters, and probably shouldn't be considered vagrants at all... #zino #cahow .......
