“Public health is at its best when it sees and helps others see the lives behind the numbers.” 📊❤️ At Public Health Scotland we live by this. Combining data + lived experience through a whole systems approach to drive fairer, healthier outcomes for all. #DataWithPurpose #SeeTheStory

Louella Vaughan It's not just what is said... It's how it is said; The order it is said in; The pace, volume, tone in which it is said; And what is not said; ...that builds the trusting and understanding.

Louella Vaughan I think what non medics fail to understand is that history taking is THE skill. It s not simply asking questions but it’s interrogating hypotheses based on background knowledge of possibilities

Louella Vaughan Daniel Albert 🎗️ Tim Coats I agree. Drs as a professional group are a thorn in government side & able to advocate for at least attempting to maintain standards of universal healthcare. Hence deliberate cross-party use of media to brief against Drs, particularly GPs.

This is so true. When a student kept interrupting a colleague taking a history the other day, he said to him "for a GP, the history is like a scalpel to a surgeon" it's our superpower and how we make difficult decisions fast and safely. It is a complicated and skilled process

There is no justification on earth for blocking deliveries of baby formula to starving babies and mothers. What Israel is inflicting on Gaza is monstrous, genocidal.

My take from the literature: 1/5 The fragmentation of job roles into tasks can increase coordination costs, put a higher burden on senior staff who have to oversee the work of juniors and risk disrupting continuity of care.

The task being reallocated may actually be part of the process of gathering information about the patient’s condition and entangled with other important elements of the work.(Stalpers et al., 2025) 3/5

Nigel Edwards 2. If clinical professionals only work "at the top of their grade" with the most complex/challenging cases, it is a recipe for burnout, with no respite whilst some more straightforward cases give breathing space

Andrew Neil I can’t cash in my pension for another 40 years, Andrew. I have a young child to look after. Any ideas how I can make ends meet in the meantime? The 48 hour average week makes childcare and commuting costs rather expensive, and the huge student loan deductions don’t help.

1/ Now the embargo has lifted, I’ve had time to read the The Leng review in full. While some celebrate minor cosmetic wins, I see the formal entrenchment of a parallel, underqualified medical workforce — built without medical training.

11/ Hundreds of doctors submitted safety concerns — including The BMA and Doctors’ Association UK. DAUK was verifiable, specific and addressed key gaps in the BMA's own dossier. Yet the Leng Review ignored it entirely. Not cited. Not analysed. Not even acknowledged.

General practice in Northern Ireland is in crisis. GPs have voted to begin collective action - we need an improved offer from the government that increases our core funding to avert a total crisis #GPsAreOnYourSide
