Good morning, Xverse! I am Chad Smith, and I will be your host for the week. I work for Valent USA as a Field Market Development Specialist covering IA and MO. I figured I would take my pic from the place where I spend most of my time during the growing season. my work truck!

I always love the walk thru the afternoon before a field day!

People always ask me what exactly I do as Valent USA technical rep. I split my time between sales support and generating data. Sales support is answering questions, building tech docs, and putting out demos. Data is helping design, contract and conduct research trials.

Today I am helping provide technical training to folks at the MFA Incorporated training camp near Kingdom City, MO. And we finally just got thru with the last group for the day!

There is some of my work that is a crossover between sales and technology too. Like I put out this Rapidicil burndown demo for folks to get a chance to look at it before it becomes registered.

Another key part of my job is teamwork. Here's Nathan Drewitz helping me till some plots today in Clear Lake, IA. We are putting in plots for a retailer field day next month.

As a tech rep in Ag, I still spend an inordinate amount of my time hoeing plots. My Ph.D. just means the waterhemp is Piled Higher and Deeper. FYi there is a difference in hoe quality. One makes you work, and the other makes work happen.

Had to jump back down to NW MO today to check out some waterhemp plots. Lots of studies I do aren't even in crops, like this one. Some are done this way to better study the treatment efficacy. Others are to control winter weeds or terminate cover crops or in industrial areas.
