Hi. My name is Elsa. I’m a filmmaker from LA. I used to be an anonymous teen and overnight I went viral. Millions watched me grow from a girl to a woman but I’ve always stayed true to myself. Ive always stayed true to my art. This is my first movie. I hope you enjoy ❤️

Since 2000, the number of imprisoned women has grown by almost 60% globally – and the U.S. remains a significant driver of that. Only 4% of the world’s women and girls live in the U.S., but the country confines 25% of the world’s incarcerated women and girls.

Three U.S. states incarcerate women at a rate higher than El Salvador, a country that's been described as an authoritarian police state. The rest are not far behind – take a look at who holds the top 10 spots for women’s incarceration around the world:

It's not hard to understand how the U.S. got here. For example, a quick look at South Dakota's policies & practices explains how the state became the world’s leader in women’s incarceration. keloland.com/keloland-com-o…

More than half of incarcerated women in South Dakota's state prisons are locked up for drug convictions – and the state projects that the number of incarcerated women will grow by almost 20% by 2026. doc.sd.gov/home/showpubli…

This type of criminalization & overreliance on mass incarceration has helped make the U.S. stand out in a shameful way. Importantly, this is not a partisan issue. Even a "progressive" state, like California, outpaces the rest of the world when it comes to incarcerating women:

Incarcerated women disproportionately report childhood disadvantages, prior victimization and abuse, lower educational attainment, homelessness, disabilities, and physical & mental health conditions. And they're often further harmed by the carceral system itself.

Women's incarceration is a crisis. Women will continue to be the fastest-growing segment of incarcerated populations globally until state & national governments address the policies and conditions that result in their incarceration in the first place.

EXCLUSIVE: President Trump claims to have ended the war in Congo but fighting is still going on. I went to Goma to interview M23 rebel leaders, allegedly backed by Rwanda, and see how they run the city. They don't recognize any US-brokered peace deal and will keep fighting

Bare minimum in a relationship - call/text every single day. - cooking for them. - calming and reassuring them when they are in doubt. - buying them gifts (price don’t matter, it’s more of the act) - speaking to each other without insulting/belittling - no threat, gaslighting

Fash Daddy! 🥐 It’s not so hard to be intentional about doing the bare minimum in a relationship. But everyone in this generation wants to be the smart one, and the recipient of every gesture without giving in return.

Uncle Sam 🤴 The mental gymnastics we do in this generation. Everyone’s trying to be strategic with whoever they are in a relationship with. Love is almost dead to me at this point.
